  • GA-5

    Frederick W. Neve, an English-born, Oxford-educated priest, came to Albemarle in 1888 as rector of St. Paul's (Ivy) and of Greenwood's Emmanuel Church. From 1890 to 1935 he founded more than 30 missions in the Blue Ridge and Ragged Mountains, many with schools and hospitals, which makes mission records a lead for mountain families of that period. He is buried at St. Paul's.
